Silvermine

[Six years before The Battle of the Twelve Temples]

Despite being born in a coastal city of France and having grown near the sea in Greece, Elyn considered that Lantau Island, in Hong Kong, was the most special one she had ever seen, in the same way that she also thought that their chinese music was the one that most encouraged her inner cosmos. Every hour she spent in Lantau seemed to be part of a dream for which every time  that she remembered, she mentally thanked Saga for sending her there. In turn, that was the first research mission that the girl carried out alone although she had the company of Aphrodite, the newly converted Saint of Pisces and one of her best friends in the Sanctuary. The Grand Pope's orders were quite simple: They had to find out what was moved inside the island due to a strange cosmos detected in Star Hill. Both would look for any trace that would guide them to what had intrigued Saga and their goal would be to take it to friendly ground whatever it was. They would work at night, since this energy seemed to become much more intense in the dark:

"What do you think it will be, Dite?"

"I just hope it'sn't another brat, we have enough with you."

"I don't want it to be either, I love being the spoiled girl of you all."

Aphrodite raised an eyebrow at the response of the twelve-year-old girl who accompanied him. Camus's little sister was almost the opposite pole of her brother in terms of character but it had been precisely that which had made her in someone with a certain reputation within the walls of the Sanctuary; at the moment, she was the only girl who not using the mask that forced women, who didn't want to be part of the Saintias, to hide their face from the Age of Myth. That behavior had caused some problems to Saga but with the passage of time, everyone got used to treating Elyn as a girl who was running around the twelve temples without any rule and talking with almost all Gold Saints with totally trust. Pisces smiled when the girl passed him, remembering the moment in which she destroyed the mask that the Pope gave her at the beginning her training as a future Saint of the Athena's legion.

"I refuse to put on me that sh*t!"

And then she threw it on the ground to shatter it. Luckily, her uprising was not taken seriously but rather, quite the opposite; the Grand Pope considered that this act of rebellion indicated that the girl had a great sense of loyalty to her own principles and she would die to defend them if necessary and that thought was something valuable for Saga's future plans.

Two days of searching eventually led them to the Silvermine waterfall. They arrived almost at dawn so the cosmos trail weakened in a matter of minutes. Aphrodite refused to turn around to return at night so they ended up settling in such a beautiful place, wrapped in greenery and with endless life flowing around them.

The Saint of Pisces took advantage of the hours of light to immerse himself in the different aromas that Lantau's flora gave off in order to discover new names and write down in a small notebook everything that his gaze captured. The curious character of Aphrodite had no limits, and much less, if no one swarmed around his to annoy him; Elyn dedicated herself to meditating in the middle of the fall of the waterfall, lost between the sound of the water and the chinese songs that her mind reproduced without stop. The girl loved music and had become accustomed to mentally humming all the songs that shuddered her interior, regardless of the language at all because after all, she ended up humming them without thinks of the lyric. It didn't care the procedence of the music, if she liked it she would want to learn it and that was how she developed a new way of moving and fighting, imposing herself on other learners and thus obtaining the admiration of the Pope.

As the hours passed, the trail of cosmos became increasingly intense and began to merge with the conscience of the girl who traveling through the astral space of the place. For shortly before being swallowed by the closed night, Elyn already knew that they wouldn't find an enemy or a friend to negotiate with but rather the cosmos that the stars had detected belonged to an Cloth. The girl saw how Aphrodite was entering the forest, moving away from the path they had been pursuing for two days for what she deduced, that the Gold Saint had other goals to accomplish. Following her instinct, Elyn threw herself into the small pond that formed at the limit of the waterfall, including clothes, not caring about the consequences of starting the searching without any surveillance.

Thanks to the control of her cosmos, the girl could hold her breath underwater much longer than other humans and sharpen her vision to remove some of the dirt from the environment. She hardly needed a few seconds to discover a hole in the submerged wall so she swam toward it at full speed and went into the darkness without stopping to think, how long would be the tunnel she had just found. Fortunately, a minute later, her head poked out of the water and her violet eyes ran into a cave that looked more like the entrance to an underwater paradise: The place was illuminated into a strange litmus reflection of blue  and green tones like something unique in the whole world. The entire grotto was illuminated in that way, leaving in view a very long corridor excavated in the rock that didn't seem to have an end. Elyn moved to get out of the water and continue on her way on foot, chasing an intangible trail that grew more and more frequently in line with herself.

Finally, a gleam in the subconscious led her step by step until her eyes met what the Pope had seen in the sky.
